FAQs
A few things you might want to know.
Protadoodle is a new baked-good platform, so a few questions naturally come up. Here are the answers to the ones we hear most often.
THE PRODUCT
-
A Protadoodle is a baked-good platform designed to bring familiar bakery rituals together with a more intentional nutritional profile. It is built to feel like a real baked good - soft, sliceable, toastable and versatile - whilst delivering high protein, high fibre and defined portions.
-
Not quite. Protadoodle is inspired by familiar baked-good formats, but it is not intended to sit neatly inside a traditional bread category. It is better understood as a new baked-good platform designed around both bakery experience and nutrition.
-
It means Protadoodle starts from the baked-good experience people already know and enjoy, then rebuilds the foundation around modern nutritional goals. Instead of simply adding nutrition onto a conventional product, the system itself is designed differently from the flour up.
-
Protadoodle is designed as a platform with multiple directions. These include staple directions such as Plain and Seed Mix, savoury directions such as Pizza or Burger, and sweet directions such as Lemon Poppy or Chocolate Hazelnut.
NUTRITION & SUITABILITY
-
The current Protadoodle platform is designed around high protein, high fibre, low sugars and intentionally defined portions. Exact nutrition values may vary by flavour direction, and final commercial nutrition is subject to validation.
-
The plain Protadoodle benchmark currently sits at around 95 kcal per bun in the current R&D prototype. Some flavour directions may vary slightly depending on the stack. Final commercial values remain subject to validation.
-
Yes. Protadoodle is designed to deliver a meaningfully higher protein profile than conventional baked goods, while still maintaining a familiar bakery-style experience.
-
Yes. Fibre is built into the foundation of the Protadoodle platform and forms part of both its nutritional profile and its structure.
-
The current platform is designed to be low in sugars, particularly compared with many sweet baked goods. Exact values depend on the flavour direction and final validated formulation.
-
Protadoodle is built around vegetarian-friendly ingredients, and vegetarian directions exist across the platform. Suitability may vary by flavour, so final product-level information will always be confirmed individually.
-
Not at this stage. While some ingredients may be plant-based, the Protadoodle platform is currently being developed primarily around vegetarian-friendly directions rather than vegan ones.
-
No. Protadoodle is built on wheat and is not suitable for people avoiding wheat or gluten, including people with coeliac disease.
-
The core Protadoodle platform contains wheat / gluten. Depending on the flavour direction, additional allergens may include milk, soya, egg, mustard, sesame, almond, hazelnut and sulphites. Some ingredients may also carry precautionary warnings for peanuts, nuts and celery. Full allergen information will be provided for each final commercial version.
USING PROTADOODLE
-
There is no single way. Protadoodle is designed to support familiar bakery rituals: you can slice it, toast it, fill it, pair it, or enjoy it on its own.
-
Protadoodle is designed to feel like a real baked good rather than a dense functional snack. The aim is a soft texture, moist crumb and recognisable bakery-style eating experience.
-
Yes. Protadoodle is designed to be toastable and to work naturally in familiar baked-good moments.
-
Both. Protadoodle is a platform, not a single flavour profile. Some directions are more neutral or staple-like, some are savoury, and others are inspired by sweet bakery moments.
-
Whenever a familiar baked-good moment makes sense for you — breakfast, lunch, snacks, paired with coffee or tea, or as part of a more intentional protein / fibre choice.
AVAILABILITY & ORDERS
-
Not yet. Protadoodle is currently moving from R&D prototype toward a direct-to-consumer commercial launch.
-
The first launch timing is still being finalised. If you would like updates, early access or future tasting news, you can join the mailing list through the site.
-
The first launch range is still being shaped, but it is expected to include a mix of staple, savoury and sweet directions drawn from the current Protadoodle platform.
-
Not necessarily. Protadoodle is still in development, so flavours, ingredients, nutritional values and final claims may continue to evolve as the platform is validated and prepared for commercial launch. However, each version will remain guided by the same core nutritional philosophy.
BRAND & JOURNEY
-
Protadoodle began as a response to a personal challenge. I wanted the familiarity and enjoyment of baked goods, but the products that better supported my goals around protein, fibre, calories and portioning usually meant moving away from that experience.
I began exploring whether bakery-style enjoyment and stronger nutritional trade-offs could exist in the same format, without defaulting to bars, shakes or conventional “healthy” substitutes.
So I started developing something for myself first. Protadoodle was shaped through lived experience, repeated testing and a genuine attempt to solve that tension as well as I could. Only later did I begin to think that other people might find it useful too.
-
“Prota” reflects protein, a defining characteristic across the Protadoodle platform. “Doodle” represents the freedom for each bun to take on a different identity through its flavour, texture, appearance and overall experience.
Each direction starts from the same protein-fibre foundation, but changes slightly according to its particular flavour stack. In that sense, every Protadoodle is a protein doodle in baked-good form.
-
Protadoodle is not simply a fortified conventional baked good. Its structure, flour system and flavour directions are all being built intentionally around both bakery experience and nutrition.
